Competition among increasingly assertive great powers
challenges Europe’s long-held approach to shape interdependence and enhance
stability through rules-based multilateral cooperation. In this new context,
the EU and member states need to calibrate their approach to the shifting
policies and priorities of the United States and China.
What common ground exists among the different national
perspectives across Europe, and where do they differ? How has the EU approached
tensions between the US and China, within a more contested strategic landscape?
How can Europe defend its interests while supporting the openness and stability
of the international order and how can multilateralism be strengthened at a
time of geopolitical competition? These are some of the questions that we will
address at this event.
