The European Policy Centre (EPC) is thrilled to announce Almut Möller as the newly appointed Director for European and Global Affairs and head of the Europe in the World programme at the EPC. A political scientist with 25 years of experience, Almut Möller joins the EPC after more than four years as State Secretary and Plenipotentiary of the German federal state of Hamburg, where she was in charge of German and EU legislation, as well as foreign affairs.
On joining the EPC, Almut Möller said:
"I am hugely excited to join the EPC, the leading independent think tank on EU affairs in Brussels. As the new legislature kicks off after the European Parliament elections, I am thrilled to be working with a great team to make a contribution to a strong, prosperous and democratic EU. I have always believed in the important role of think tanks in European integration, and the EPC as both a research and membership organisation is well placed to play such a role. My recent experience in government will inform relevant policy advice at a crucial time for the EU.”
"Our free and democratic Union is under threat from both in and outside. We should never take the EU for granted. We need to fight for our Union, and I am glad to make a contribution.”

Notes to editors
Before joining the government of the German federal state of Hamburg, Almut headed the Berlin office of the European Council on Foreign Relations as well as the EU programme at the German Council on Foreign Relations. She started her professional career in think tanks in the late 1990s at the Center for Applied Policy Research at LMU Munich university, where she also completed her M.A. Her areas of expertise include EU institutions and politics, foreign and security policy, and multilevel governance.
